THE VILLAGE OF PERNES LES FONTAINES

"Perno Li Font" which is called in french PERNES LES FONTAINES is an old stone village, with antique remparts (left picture). It is situated in the heart of the Comtat Venaissin, noble part of Provence where the popes used to live in Avignon. Its small river La Nesque is the theater of local flea markets, unforgettable bocce game tournaments. Our great-grandfather Paul Chiron was the mayor of the town during the second war, the local resistance leader who had a movie life, escaped the germans to run away to Paris on a vintage bike at seventy years old. He added to his town's name "the fountains" to pay tribute to this unique heritage of more than fourty fountains along the streets. Losing yourself in the little alleys is a pure moment of charm.

Located at 10 to 15 minutes by car from the well-knowned Isle-sur-Sorgues which groups 250 antiques shops. You can't miss of course Avignon at only 20 minutes, its pope city, its famous bridge. Everything is easily reachable from Pernes which is very central, the fresh  Fontaine de Vaucluse with its mysterious source, the trendy villages of St Remy de Provence, Gordes, Lourmarin, Bonnieux, and for bike lovers the Ventoux mount. There are so many secret places in Provence, and Pernes Les Fontaines is one of them.

Our property is at 3 minutes by walk from the historical center, with trendy restaurants, delicious food stores, old stone streets.
